FAA Flight Test Standards

Be advised the FAA has published new glider private and commercial practical test standards.  You can download either of them in their entirety below.

SSA Forms

This is a mirror of the "Forms" area of the SSA home page.

The 2000 Sporting Code and Soaring Awards Procedures adopted by SSA.

Awards Application is a 10KB (two-page) .pdf (Adobe Acrobat) file that constitutes the core awards application.

Form RS-2 is a 9KB (two-page) .pdf (Adobe Acrobat) file used to file for state records.

Form RS-1 is a 10KB (two-page) .pdf (Adobe Acrobat) file listing the rules for state soaring records.

Form D is a 5KB (one-page) .pdf (Adobe Acrobat) file application for state motorglider records.

The FAI Flight Declaration Form is a 4KB (one-page) .pdf (Adobe Acrobat) file. This form should be printed on legal (8.5 x 14) paper.  Also, for a fill in the blanks version of this form, see the Task Planning page.

SN10 Site Manager, version 1.2
Includes a new database for 2003!

Don Malin's SN10 Site Manager program (version 1.2.00 Created 12/9/02) for the ILEC SN10 Flight Computer.  Click here to download and install the software (4.5mb file size).  This version contains an updated airport database and preserves Airspace records in NDB files.  It is also no longer password protected. 

Kudos to Lynn Alley for his work on the updated waypoint file which he created from the FAA's airport database.  This was no small task!!!  Thanks Lynn!

IGC to Street Atlas USA

This free program can be used to convert an IGC (International Glider Commission) log file into a format that can be imported into Street Atlas USA 5 (or above) to display a trace.  Click here to download and install the program (2.7M bytes, created on 7/1/99).

To use the program, just run it and enter an IGC log file when prompted.  The following dialog box prompts you for a time interval for printing performance information such as Time, Altitude, Average Rate of Climb (last 20 seconds), Ground Speed, and True Course.  After specifying these intervals, the program will then create a converted version of the file with a .GPL extension in the same directory as the original file.  The performance annotation data will be created in a file of the same name with an extension of .TXT.

From Street Atlas USA use the "GPS - Import Log File..." menu commands to select the converted .GPL file and watch the trace display on your map (you may have to scroll to the area).  Use the "File - Import Lat/Lon File..." commands to display performance annotations from the .TXT file.  Turnpoints are shown as large red crosses if the IGC file contained turnpoint information.
